The roots that shape my work

Public diplomacy, cultural heritage and family memory.

My work connects cultural and educational cooperation with African countries, Moscow’s cultural projects and the Russian language abroad. I organise educational meetings, moderate international discussions and lead literary initiatives.

I chair the Association of Economic Cooperation with African States (AECAS) and lead the international literary project Russian Glagol. Through Moscow and Muscovites and Vladimir Gilyarovsky’s legacy, I continue my connection with Moscow’s history and culture.

Moscow and Africa.
A personal story.

My interest in Africa has personal roots: the memory of people whose lives connected Russia with this continent.

Nestor Alexandrovich Monastyrev — a Russian naval officer, commander of the submarine Utka, and naval historian — is buried in Tabarka, Tunisia. His memory is part of my family’s history and my connection to Africa.

That connection lives on in today’s encounters, conversations, and shared projects. For me, preserving family memory means remaining attentive to people, their roots and culture, and passing this understanding on to my children.

Personal mission

“True diplomacy begins with respect for our own roots and a sincere desire to understand another culture. My mission is to cherish the heritage of the past and open a path to a future in which people from different countries listen to, understand, and respect one another.”
