friendship across years and distances

My role
Organiser of educational meetings together with cosmonaut and Hero of Russia Sergey Kud-Sverchkov.
What took place
Meetings with students in Senegal and Mali: conversations about space, Russian science and education, questions and answers, and exchanges with university communities in both countries.

An AECAS programme supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

Dialogue between Russian and African journalists, educational meetings, and an introduction to Russian science and space exploration for students.

An AECAS and Rossotrudnichestvo media project supported by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund. Student meetings featured Sergey Kud-Sverchkov.

03 / My path

The roots
that shape my path.

My work brings together humanitarian cooperation with African countries, Moscow’s cultural projects, and support for the Russian language abroad. I organise educational meetings, moderate international discussions, and develop literary initiatives.

Today I chair AECAS and lead the international literary project Russian Glagol. My work with Moscow and Muscovites and my commitment to Vladimir Gilyarovsky’s legacy continue my connection to Moscow’s history and culture.

Moscow and Africa.
A personal story.

My interest in Africa has personal roots: the memory of people whose lives connected Russia with this continent.

Nestor Alexandrovich Monastyrev — a Russian naval officer, commander of the submarine Utka, and naval historian — is buried in Tabarka, Tunisia. His memory is part of my family’s history and my connection to Africa.

That connection lives on in today’s encounters, conversations, and shared projects. For me, preserving family memory means remaining attentive to people, their roots and culture, and passing this understanding on to my children.
